Tae Kwon Do
Tae Kwon Do is a traditional Korean Martial Art characterized by its fast. high, and spinning kicks. The word Tae Kwon Do translates to "the way of the hand and foot." It consists of patter of forms, sparring, breaking, self-defense, and meditation. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind. Today, it has become a global sport that has gained an international reputation, and stands among the official games in the Olympic.
A powerful and specialized martial art form from Korea, hapkido can
bebroken down into three philosophical words "Hap - together or harmony,"
"Ki - power," "Do - the way of life and the way of learning.” Therefore,
Hapkido can be loosely translated as the way (art) of coordinated power.
Korean in the military learns taekwondo, but hapkido is reserved for those
training in the special forces. Hapkido is a complete art of defense.
